Why You Should Print Your Photos

We live in a digital world. Our phones are filled with thousands of snapshots, our computers hold folders of family memories, and our social media feeds are a highlight reel of our lives. But here’s the truth; digital files aren’t forever. Technology changes, hard drives fail, phones get lost, and in a blink, those memories could disappear. That’s why printing your photos is so important.

Digital Memories Can Fade

Think back to the floppy disk or the CD. At one time, they were the best way to store files. Now, most computers don’t even have a place to read them. The same thing can happen to today’s storage methods. Even if you back up your photos in the cloud, accounts can get hacked or shut down. The reality is, digital formats may not stand the test of time the way a printed photo can.

Prints Turn Memories Into Heirlooms

A printed photograph is something you can hold, frame, and pass down to future generations. When your children grow up, they’re not going to look through your old hard drives. They’ll flip through photo albums, smile at the framed portraits on the wall, and hold those memories in their hands. Prints transform fleeting digital moments into tangible keepsakes that carry emotion, history, and love.

The Joy of Displaying Your Story

Printed photos bring life into your home. Whether it’s a canvas on your living room wall, a collection of framed images in a hallway, or a coffee table album filled with your favorite sessions, these pieces remind you daily of the moments and people who matter most. They aren’t hidden on a screen, they’re part of your story, displayed proudly in your space. I have some of my own personal work printed. I have photos of my children my partner, and long-distance family members who I miss all over my house and I look at them pretty much every day!

Why Professional Prints Matter

Professional photographers, like me, don’t just capture your story, we also ensure it’s preserved beautifully. Printing through a professional lab means colors are accurate, the paper and materials are archival-quality, and your images will last for generations. It’s not the same as printing at a drugstore or big-box retailer. Your memories deserve the very best.

Don’t Let Your Memories Live in the Cloud

At the end of the day, photos are meant to be seen, touched, and treasured, not just stored. When you invest in professional photography, give those images the life they deserve by turning them into prints, albums, or wall art that you and your family can enjoy every single day.

Ready to Turn Your Photos Into Heirlooms?

If you’ve been meaning to print your photos, now is the perfect time. I offer high-quality albums, canvases, and prints that are designed to last a lifetime. Let’s turn your memories into something you can hold close, display proudly, and pass down for generations.

Life as a Special Needs Photographer: Why Patience and Compassion Matter

Photography is so much more than just clicking a button, it’s about capturing the heart of a moment, the personality of a child, and the love of a family. For families with children who have special needs, the experience of being photographed can feel overwhelming. That’s where patience and compassion come in, and why I’ve made it my mission to create a safe, joyful space for every child in front of my lens.

A Personal Perspective

This part of my work is deeply personal to me. As a mom of a child on the autism spectrum, I understand firsthand the challenges that come with new environments, unfamiliar faces, sensory sensitivities, and the unpredictability of a photo session. I know what it’s like to worry about whether or not my child cooperate? Will they smile? Will they be understood? Are we being a burden?

These aren’t just abstract questions to me. They’re ones I’ve asked myself as a parent many, many times. That’s why I approach every family I photograph with empathy, flexibility, and patience. I see your child for who they are, not for how still they sit or how long they smile at the camera.

Why Patience Makes All the Difference

Every child is unique, and some need more time to warm up. That’s why I build extra time into my sessions, allow kids to take breaks, and let them explore the environment at their own pace. There’s no “rush” with me, because genuine smiles and true personalities can’t be forced.

I also adapt to each child’s comfort level. Sometimes that means photographing while they play, sometimes it means letting them hold a favorite toy, and other times it means being silly right alongside them to earn a grin. The key is patience, meeting kids where they are, instead of asking them to conform to a rigid plan.

Compassion Creates Comfort

Compassion is the bridge between the photographer and the family. I know how important it is for parents to feel supported during a session, too. I reassure families that meltdowns are okay, that laughter counts as much as stillness, and that the little in-between moments often make the best photos.

I don’t care if your little one has a meltdown, I don’t care if we take longer than planned. It’s okay!!! Life’s hard enough without someone else making you feel guilty or rushed. Feeling like a burden is the worst feeling in the world, so I want my clients to know that they are safe with me.

When families leave a session feeling relieved, encouraged, and seen. That’s when I know I’ve done my job. The photos are beautiful, yes, but the experience is just as important.

Why This Work Matters

Photography is about more than images, it’s about memories. Families with special needs children deserve portraits that reflect the joy, resilience, and individuality of their stories.

Some of my favorite photoshoots have been with families of neurodivergent children. I have witnessed parents cry tears of joy when they saw their images. I have seen parents laugh and play with their children, creating beautiful memories because they felt comfortable enough to truly have fun in front of my camera. That trust and comfort is why they return to me whenever they need photos. Together, we share nothing but joy and giggles during our sessions, and those families are the heart of why I do what I do.

In-Home Lifestyle Sessions: A Beautiful, Personal Option for Family Photography in Central Florida

Mother holding her baby, embracing a beautiful moment in the comfort of her own home.

When it comes to photography, location can completely shape the story your images tell. While outdoor spots like beaches, parks, and scenic fields in Central Florida are classic choices for a reason, there’s another option that’s just as meaningful — your own home.

In-home lifestyle sessions are about capturing your family in a place that already holds so many memories. It’s a beautiful way to document the everyday moments that matter most, and it might be something you’ve never considered.

It’s Where Real Life Happens

Your home isn’t just a backdrop. It’s where your memories are made. From your morning coffee ritual to messy toddler toys and snuggles on the couch, those little moments are the ones that tell your story.

In-home lifestyle sessions focus on those natural, everyday interactions. Whether it’s baking in the kitchen, reading bedtime stories, or hanging out in the backyard, these sessions feel personal because they are. And later, when you look back at those images, you’ll be glad you documented life exactly as it was.

No Stress About the Weather

If you’ve spent any time in Orlando or Kissimmee, you know the weather likes to keep us guessing. An in-home sessiontakes the stress out of rescheduling for rain or battling the heat in the middle of summer.

It also makes a great option for newborn sessions or young kids who might be more comfortable in their own familiar space.

No Driving Involved

Does the sound of wrangling the kids (and let’s be honest, sometimes dad too) into the car for a photoshoot already feel exhausting? Because, same. That’s one of the reasons I love offering in-home lifestyle sessions. You don’t have to leave the house. No packing bags, no making sure everyone’s shoes match, and no last-minute car seat battles. You get to stay right where you’re comfortable while I come to you. If that’s not a win, I truly don’t know what is.

Kids and Pets Are Comfortable

One of the biggest benefits of an in-home lifestyle session is how naturally relaxed it feels, especially for little ones and pets. They’re surrounded by their toys, favorite spots, and familiar routines. That comfort leads to genuine smiles, silly moments, and the kind of connection you can’t always capture in a brand-new location.

Every Home Tells a Story

Your home doesn’t have to be picture-perfect to photograph beautifully. The goal of lifestyle photography isn’t perfection, it’s authenticity. Whether it’s the artwork your kids taped to the fridge or the sunlight hitting your living room just right, those details make your photos truly yours.

These images become snapshots of a chapter in your life you’ll be glad to look back on years down the road.

It’s Another Beautiful Option

In-home lifestyle sessions aren’t meant to replace outdoor photos. They’re simply a different way to capture your family’s story. Some families love to mix both, scheduling a cozy, candid in-home session one year and an outdoor adventure the next.

It’s all about documenting what matters most to you, in a way that feels natural and true to your family’s personality.

Why Spring Photoshoots Are the Most Fun You'll Ever Have!

Mother and daughter enjoying a nice moment during a photoshoot in Kissimmee florida

Ah, spring! The season of blooming flowers, soft sunlight, and the sweet scent of fresh grass in the air. It’s the time when everything seems to come alive, and what better way to celebrate this vibrant season than with a fun, fresh photoshoot? Whether you’re capturing family memories, marking a special milestone, or simply embracing the beauty of the season, spring photoshoots are all about joy, color, and magic.

Here’s why spring photoshoots are an absolute blast:

1. Nature is Your Playground

Springtime is like nature’s very own art studio, and the whole outdoors becomes your canvas. Think lush green parks, fields of wildflowers, cherry blossoms in full bloom, and trees wearing their freshest leaves. Everywhere you look, there’s a pop of color, making your photos look like they belong in a storybook.

Whether it’s lying in a field of daisies or running barefoot through a sunlit meadow, the natural beauty of spring makes for the most whimsical and breathtaking backdrops. And don’t even get us started on the golden hour—those soft, dreamy sunsets? Pure magic!

2. The Weather is Perfect

Gone are the harsh winds of winter and the sticky heat of summer. Spring brings that perfect balance of warm sun and cool breezes, meaning you can comfortably wear your favorite outfits without worrying about sweating or freezing. You’ll be able to enjoy every moment of your photoshoot without worrying about the weather ruining the fun! In Florida, selecting the right weather is essential.

Plus, the diffused sunlight on a spring day gives photos that beautiful, soft glow. It’s like nature’s own Instagram filter, making everyone look effortlessly radiant.

3. Fun Fashion Choices

Spring fashion is all about expressing yourself through flowy dresses, vibrant colors, fun prints, and lightweight layers. It’s the season where you can get creative with your wardrobe and play around with your personal style.

Want to twirl in a floral dress? Go for it! Or maybe you’re more into a casual-chic vibe with a cute hat and a denim jacket. The options are endless, and spring photoshoots allow you to bring your fashion game to the next level.

4. Endless Activities to Get Creative With

Spring isn’t just about standing still and smiling at the camera. It’s the perfect season for interactive, fun activities that can add personality to your photos. From blowing bubbles to playing in the rain (hello, puddles!) to flying a kite or having a picnic, spring offers so many playful opportunities to get creative with your shoot.

The best part? You don’t have to pose the whole time! Movement makes photos so much more dynamic. Jumping, running, laughing, or just spinning around in circles—it’s all about having fun and capturing those authentic moments.

5. Perfect for All Kinds of Photoshoots

Whether you’re doing a couple’s shoot, a family session, a solo portrait, or even a maternity or newborn shoot, spring is the perfect time for any type of photoshoot. It’s a season that feels fresh and full of promise, making it ideal for marking a special milestone in your life.

Want to get your furry friend involved? Springtime is great for pet-friendly photoshoots too! With the world coming to life outside, your dog (or cat) will love running around in the fresh air, and you’ll love the candid shots of them having the time of their lives.

6. The Vibrant Color Palette

Nothing beats the lively colors of spring. From pastel pinks and yellows to deep blues and greens, the season’s palette adds a cheerful vibe to every shot. Your photos will pop with vibrant hues, and the colors of nature will complement your own wardrobe choices beautifully.

Imagine a field of tulips in the background, or a sun-kissed path lined with bright daffodils. The contrast of colors in spring is a photographer’s dream, and it will make your photos look absolutely stunning!

7. You’ll Be Smiling the Whole Time

Spring brings that infectious sense of joy and renewal, and it’s impossible not to be in a good mood while enjoying the outdoors. You’ll find yourself smiling naturally as you breathe in the fresh air and take in the beauty of everything around you. Those genuine, happy smiles are exactly what make spring photoshoots so special.

And trust us—those smiles will shine through in every photo, giving you memories that will last a lifetime!

Love in the Storm: A Wedding Day That Laughed in the Face of a Hurricane

Let’s talk about the wildest, most unforgettable wedding I’ve ever shot—because, oh yeah, it happened in the middle of a hurricane! While most people were hiding in their houses, this couple grabbed each other and said, ‘Let’s do this!’ Talk about making a stormy day iconic! Kit and Jesse? Oh, they’re basically VIPs in my world! These two (plus their ridiculously adorable boys) have been in front of my lens more times than I can count, and every session is pure magic. Getting to capture their big day? Absolute honor.

Their wedding at The Delamater House in New Smyrna was straight out of a dream. Definitely one of my favorite wedding venues to work. It’s a chef’s kiss kind of wedding venue! It’s got that perfect blend of rustic charm and timeless elegance—think dreamy oak trees, open-air spaces, and just the right touch of Southern romance. If you’re a couple who loves the outdoors but still wants a wedding that screams classy, this place is basically your fairytale come to life! The staff at this venue? Absolutely top-notch! They’re the kind of people who make wedding days run like a dream—friendly, helpful, and always a step ahead. Seriously, they’re the unsung heroes of the big day!

Alright, let’s get back to this whole hurricane situation. The storm hadn’t officially hit Central Florida yet—it was busy hovering over the Panhandle—but trust me, the wind and rain were already making their presence known. Most couples would’ve been stressing over the weather, but not Kit and Jessie. These two? Totally unbothered. The rain held off just long enough for a perfectly lit ceremony (seriously, we lucked out there), but by the time the reception rolled around, the skies decided to let loose. The party was safely indoors, but that didn’t stop these two from embracing the chaos—quite literally. A little outdoor adventure left them completely drenched, and they could not have cared less. Just pure joy, soaked clothes, and a night full of memories.

After years of capturing Kit and Jesse’s family moments, being there for their wedding felt extra special. Sure, I was technically working, but honestly? It felt more like celebrating with friends. These two are the real deal—meant for each other in every way—and the love and happiness that filled their day was on another level. I’ve photographed a lot of weddings, but this one? Unforgettable.

Enjoy these photos of the big day!!

A beach photoshoot at Cocoa Beach, New Smyrna Beach, or Sarasota is a great way to embrace the carefree vibes of summer. Let the kids splash in the water, chase seagulls, and build sandcastles while I capture those genuine, joyful moments. Not up for a drive? 2. Sunflower & Wildflower Fields

Spring and early summer bring gorgeous blooms to Central Florida. If you love vibrant colors, consider a family session in a sunflower or wildflower field! Places like Southern Hill Farms offer dreamy backdrops filled with golden hues and lush greenery. It’s perfect for those picture-perfect, light-filled portraits that feel like something out of a storybook. If you’re looking for more floral beauty, Mead Botanical Garden and Leu Gardens in Orlando provide stunning landscapes filled with seasonal blooms, lush pathways, and picturesque garden settings, making them excellent choices for a vibrant and elegant photoshoot.

3. Theme Park Magic

Orlando is home to the world’s most famous theme parks, and they make for the most fun and unique family photoshoots! Whether it’s in front of Cinderella’s Castle at Magic Kingdom, wandering through the vibrant streets of Hollywood Studios, or capturing sweet moments at Universal’s CityWalk, these locations bring out the joy and wonder of childhood. Just keep in mind that certain areas require permission for professional photography, but there are plenty of ways to incorporate theme park magic into your session!

4. Picnic in the Park

A laid-back family picnic photoshoot is perfect for spring and summer! Pack a basket with your favorite snacks, a cozy blanket, and let’s head to a beautiful Orlando park like Lake Runnymede Conservation Area, Dickson Azalea Park, Langford T Park, or Kissimmee Lakefront Park. The relaxed setting allows for lots of laughter, natural smiles, and candid moments that truly capture your family’s personality.

5. Winter Park Charm & Urban Vibes

If you’re looking for a modern and stylish family photoshoot, Winter Park offers endless possibilities. Park Avenue’s cobblestone streets, boutique storefronts, and charming cafés create a picturesque backdrop. Central Park’s lush greenery, fountains, and colorful flower beds add a timeless elegance to your session. For a more relaxed, waterfront feel, consider capturing moments along the scenic shores of Lake Virginia or at Rollins College, where the historic architecture and beautiful gardens provide a stunning setting for family portraits.

6. Adventure Sessions – Kayaking, Biking & More!

For active families who love the outdoors, why not turn your session into a mini adventure? Wekiwa Springs, Kelly Park, and Blue Spring State Park offer crystal-clear waters, lush green landscapes, and an opportunity to capture your family enjoying Florida’s natural beauty. Kayaking, biking, or even a playful splash in the springs can turn a typical photoshoot into an unforgettable experience.

7. Sunset & Golden Hour Magic

No matter where we shoot, golden hour—the hour before sunset—is the best time for dreamy, glowing family photos. Whether it’s on the beach, at a park, or in your own backyard, the soft lighting makes everything look magical. If you want that warm, golden glow in your photos, let’s plan your session around this time!

How to Make Family Photos Inclusive and Stress-Free for Kids with Special Needs

Mom and Son walking through a field together during a photoshoot in Saint Cloud, Florida | Laura Jessica Photography

Family photos are a cherished way to capture moments in time, celebrating love, connection, and growth. For families with children who have special needs, the idea of a photoshoot can come with unique considerations. Every child has their own way of experiencing the world, and with thoughtful preparation and the right approach, it’s entirely possible to create an environment where everyone feels comfortable and included. Here are some tips to make your family photo experience stress-free and enjoyable for all.

1. Choose a Photographer Who Understands

Finding a photographer with experience working with children with special needs can make all the difference. They will understand the importance of patience, flexibility, and creating a sensory-friendly environment. When researching photographers, look for someone who communicates openly, listens to your concerns, and has a warm, empathetic approach. Having a little one with Autism, I really appreciate adults who have compassion and patience with her!

2. Plan Ahead and Communicate

Preparation is key for a successful photoshoot. Share important details with your photographer beforehand, such as:

  • Your child’s sensory sensitivities (e.g., noise, touch, or bright lights).

  • Any triggers or behaviors to avoid.

  • Things that make your child feel calm, happy, or safe.

  • Preferred poses or activities that align with your child’s comfort level.

This information allows the photographer to tailor the session to your family’s unique needs.

3. Pick the Right Location

The setting of your photoshoot can greatly impact your child’s comfort level. Consider:

  • Outdoor locations with open space, natural light, and minimal distractions.

  • Familiar spaces, such as your home or a favorite park, where your child feels at ease.

  • Quiet times of the day to avoid crowds and overstimulation.

4. Keep the Schedule Flexible

Rigid timelines can add unnecessary stress. It’s totally okay to ask your photographer for a quick break to decompress and re-fuel with snacks. We really don’t mind. If it helps the outcome of the photos and keeps everyone happy, we are all for it! Slow and steady wins the race!

5. Bring Comfort Items

Familiar objects, such as a favorite toy, blanket, or sensory tool, can provide reassurance and help your child feel secure. Incorporating these items into the session can also make the photos more personal and meaningful.

6. Focus on Authentic Moments

Rather than striving for perfectly posed pictures, embrace candid moments that reflect your family’s true dynamic. Let your child’s personality shine, whether that means playful laughter, a quiet hug, or a favorite activity. Most of my clients end up preferring the playful, candid photos over the posed ones.

7. Celebrate Progress, Not Perfection

It’s important to approach the session with realistic expectations. Celebrate small victories, like a shared smile or a calm moment, rather than focusing on achieving a flawless outcome. Every photo will be a treasured memory because it’s a reflection of your unique family.

8. Create a Positive Experience

Before the session, talk to your child about what to expect and keep the mood light and positive. If possible, involve them in the planning process, such as picking out outfits or choosing props. Celebrate their participation and make the day feel like a fun family activity rather than a chore.

Let’s Create Lasting Memories Together

Family photos are about celebrating the beauty of your family, just as it is. With the right preparation and mindset, your session can be a joyful and inclusive experience that captures your family’s love and connection. Remember: You are not a burden. Your child is not a burden. I know what it’s like to worry about how my child’s behavior affects other people and I can promise you this, you will never need to feel that way during one of our sessions. I specialize in working with families of all kinds, including those with special needs. With years of experience and a deep understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, and Sensory Processing Disorder, I create a compassionate and stress-free environment tailored to your family’s needs. Let’s work together to capture moments you’ll treasure forever.

Pose with Ease: The Secrets to Looking Effortlessly Natural in Photos

Have you ever looked at a photo of yourself and thought, “I don’t look like that!” or “I look so stiff!”? It’s not uncommon. Many people struggle with looking natural in photos, whether it’s for a professional headshot, family portraits, or an intimate couple’s session. But the truth is, how you pose can make a huge difference in how relaxed and natural you look.

As a photographer based in Kissimmee and Orlando, I've had the privilege of photographing people from all walks of life—families, couples, professionals—and one thing I’ve learned is that the psychology of posing plays a huge role in how people come across in photos. The goal is always the same: to help you look like yourself, but at your best. So, let’s break down the psychology behind posing and offer some tips that will help you feel confident, relaxed, and comfortable in front of the camera.

1. The Power of Posture: Stand Tall, but Stay Relaxed

You’ve probably heard the phrase, “Stand up straight!” but let’s break down why good posture matters in photos. When you stand tall, you appear more confident and poised, but it’s important not to overdo it. If you stand too stiffly, your body will look rigid, and you’ll feel tense, which translates to a less natural photo.

Tip:

  • Stand up straight with your shoulders back, but try to relax them. Imagine you’re pulling a string from the top of your head, elongating your spine. This gives you a strong but relaxed look.

  • Slightly shift your weight to one foot to avoid standing too “locked” in place. A little natural sway makes you look more comfortable and dynamic.

2. Posture and Expression: One Doesn’t Work Without the Other

How you carry your body often influences how you express yourself. It’s a feedback loop—the way you pose affects your facial expression, and vice versa. The key to looking natural is balance: relaxed body posture + authentic facial expression = a photograph that feels like you.

Tip:

  • For headshots, tilt your chin slightly down (not too much, just a tad) to elongate your neck and avoid the double chin effect. This gives you a flattering, approachable look.

  • When it comes to family photos or couple shoots, think about the mood you want to create. If it’s a playful session, think of something that makes you laugh—don’t force a smile. Genuine smiles are always more flattering than staged ones.

3. Hands: The Silent Poses That Speak Volumes

Hands often make people nervous, and we see it time and time again—clients who are unsure of what to do with their hands, leading them to awkward poses that don't feel natural. The key is to keep your hands relaxed and engaged, but not stiff.

Tip:

  • For couples: Rest your hand on your partner’s shoulder or waist, or hold hands in a natural way. If you're sitting, you can place your hand on your partner's knee or hold their hand with both of yours.

  • For solo shots: Keep one hand relaxed at your side, or place it in your pocket. If you're holding something (like a prop or accessory), make sure it feels like an extension of your personality, not just a filler.

  • For family sessions: Keep hands light and gentle—nothing too posed. A hand on a child’s shoulder or a playful touch is often enough to make the shot feel intimate.

4. Eyes: Where to Look and How to Feel

Where you look in a photo makes all the difference. In the world of photography, the eyes are often considered the "windows to the soul." If you're looking off into the distance with a blank stare, the photo might lack connection. On the other hand, if you're staring directly at the camera, it can sometimes feel intense.

Tip:

  • For headshots, a soft, direct gaze into the camera is powerful, but don't be afraid to add some warmth to your expression by slightly softening your eyes.

  • For couple or family portraits, look at each other—this will bring intimacy and connection to the photo. Alternatively, gazing at the horizon or around the scene can give a relaxed, candid feel. Just don't focus on a fixed point; let your eyes wander naturally.

  • Avoid wide eyes or over-exaggerated expressions; keep it subtle.

5. For Couples: The Dance of Connection and Space

In couple shoots, especially in places like Kissimmee or Orlando, where the backdrop is often romantic or scenic, the trick is to make the connection between the two of you feel natural. Sometimes clients worry about looking overly posed or "too in love," but the beauty lies in capturing the raw emotion that exists between the two of you.

Tip:

  • Cuddle in close, but avoid standing too rigidly. You want to be close, but not stiff. Leaning into each other or even a slight touch of hands can speak volumes.

  • If you're not sure what to do with your hands, try gentle touches—maybe place your hand on your partner’s arm, or rest it on their shoulder.

  • Sometimes the most natural shots happen when you're just walking together, looking at each other or talking, or enjoying a playful moment. Don’t be afraid to engage in light conversation during the shoot. The more relaxed you are, the more authentic your connection will look in the photos.

6. For Families: The Importance of Interaction

In family photography, particularly when there are kids involved, one of the main goals is to capture authentic, joyful moments. Kids often have a lot of energy, so trying to make them pose stiffly can feel unnatural. Instead, encourage fun interactions between family members—laughing, hugging, or even running around together.

Tip:

  • If the kids are young, let them be kids! Sometimes the best family shots happen when parents or siblings interact with them in playful ways, like lifting them, playing with their hair, or a gentle tickle.

  • Group shots can feel rigid if everyone is too focused on posing. Try to capture genuine moments of connection, whether it’s a parent holding a child’s hand or a sibling sharing a quiet, candid moment.

7. Relaxation is Key: Feeling Comfortable Equals Looking Comfortable

At the end of the day, looking natural in photos comes down to feeling comfortable. The more at ease you are, the more your photos will reflect that. Here’s where your photographer comes in. A good photographer is not just someone who clicks the shutter; they’re someone who guides you through the process, making you feel relaxed and confident. I try to keep my sessions fun and stress-free by always being in an upbeat mood and not so serious!

Tip:

  • Trust your photographer! In Kissimmee and Orlando, many of my clients are often visiting for vacation or special events, and they can feel stressed about getting the "perfect shot." Relax! Your photographer is there to help you look your best, and most photographers will offer light direction to make sure you feel confident and natural.

  • Don’t be afraid to ask for breaks during the session if you need to adjust. When you’re relaxed, that’s when your personality truly shines through.

Conclusion

Looking natural in photos is all about finding balance. By focusing on your posture, expression, and small gestures, you can bring out the best version of yourself—whether you're in a professional setting, at a family gathering, or sharing intimate moments with a loved one.

If you're planning a photoshoot in Kissimmee or Orlando, don’t stress about the “perfect pose.” Instead, think about enjoying the moment, staying relaxed, and letting your true self shine. After all, the best photos aren’t about perfection—they’re about capturing real emotion, real connection, and real you.

10 Must-Ask Questions for Your Photographer Before You Book (Don't Skip #9)

So, you’re ready to book a photographer? Great! Here’s something I’ve noticed in my years of snapping pics: Some clients book with little to no questions asked, while others come armed with a list. The truth is, asking questions is amazing. It helps both of us get on the same page, builds trust, and makes sure we’re going to create something you’ll love! Don’t worry if you’re not sure what to ask; here are a few key questions to consider before saying “cheese!”

1 - Can I See More of Your Work?

Sure, a photographer’s website showcases some of their best shots, but if you’re looking for more examples—especially ones that match the type of session you’re after—just ask! We love showing off our work, and it’ll help you feel confident that we’re the right match.

2 - What is your cancellation policy?

When booking a photoshoot, it's essential to know your photographer’s cancellation policy to avoid any surprises if plans change. Life is unpredictable, and sometimes cancellations or rescheduling is unavoidable. Asking about the policy upfront gives clarity on deadlines, potential fees, and flexibility, helping you understand what options are available if something comes up. This transparency can make the booking process smoother and ensure you feel supported and secure in your investment, no matter what life throws your way.

3 - How soon will I receive my Photos?

As much as you might love the suspense, it’s nice to know how long it’ll take to get your photos. Whether you’re on a tight timeline or just want to know the estimated wait, asking about turnaround time is totally fair game. (We know the feeling of tracking an online order!) If you're in a time crunch, it’s wise to schedule your session at least a month before you need the final images. Most photographers have a 2-4 week turnaround time, depending on their workload and editing process. Booking with this buffer ensures you’ll have plenty of time for any additional edits or unexpected delays and can enjoy your photos by your target date without the stress of a last-minute rush.

4 - What happens if there’s bad weather?

This question is especially important if you live in a place with unpredictable weather—Florida being a prime example. Summer months often bring frequent rain and high humidity, so it’s essential to plan ahead. I personally schedule photoshoots at times when rain is less likely, but there have certainly been occasions where unexpected showers have interrupted a session. Each photographer’s approach may vary, but every professional should have a rainy day policy that allows for rescheduling when weather doesn’t cooperate.

5 - What is your approach to posing and direction?

This is an important question that can reveal a lot about how your session will feel. Some photographers take a hands-on approach, offering detailed instructions for every pose, angle, and expression, which can be helpful if you feel unsure in front of the camera or want a polished, magazine-style look. Others prefer a more candid approach, capturing natural interactions and encouraging you to relax and enjoy the moment, which is ideal if you want photos that feel authentic and organic.

Knowing the photographer’s style of guidance can help you assess if their approach aligns with your comfort level and the atmosphere you’re hoping for. If you’re new to professional photography or tend to feel camera-shy, you may want a photographer who is encouraging and offers clear, friendly direction. On the other hand, if you’re comfortable being photographed and want more freedom to move, a relaxed, observational photographer may be a better fit. Asking about this ensures you’ll feel supported during the session and come away with images that genuinely reflect who you are.

6 - Do You Have Creative Ideas for My Session?

You’ve seen a look you love in a photographer’s portfolio, and now you want that same vibe, right? Chat with your photographer about your vision, any location ideas, or themes you love. Feel free to share inspiration, even from outside their portfolio. Photographers love collaborating to bring your ideas to life!

7 - Can I Bring My Squad (aka Friends or Family) Along?

Thinking of bringing the family, a friend, or even your pet hamster? Let your photographer know. Adding extra people can change the session’s vibe and timing, and it may affect the price. More friends or family = more coordination, but trust me, we’re happy to make it work.

8 - Am I Allowed to Change Outfits?

Want a quick outfit change mid-shoot? Most photographers don’t mind, but it’s always good to check. (And if you’re outdoors, make sure there’s a place nearby where you can change comfortably.)

9 - What location would you recommend?

Location, location, location! If you’re not sure where you’d like your session to happen, ask for suggestions. Most photographers have a list of great spots in mind and know when they’re best lit. I personally love helping clients pick locations that’ll make their photos shine.

10 - Do you have experience with my specific type of shoot

It is essential to ensure your photographer is well-equipped to handle the unique needs of your session. Different types of photography require different skill sets, and having a photographer with experience in your specific area of interest can make a significant difference in the final outcome.

Of course, these are just a few starter questions; feel free to ask anything that’ll make you feel more prepared! The more you know, the more comfortable you’ll feel, and that goes for us photographers, too—happy clients make for the best photoshoots!
