Fall Minis Are Here — Save Your Spot & Save Some $$!
Dear Florida Friends... We Survived Summer.
Whew. Another scorching, sweat-filled, sunscreen-coated Florida summer is (almost) behind us. Can we all just agree… it felt hotter than ever this year? Maybe it is the rising temps. Maybe it’s our slowly melting tolerance. Either way, we made it, and that deserves a celebration.
Now, it’s time to trade in the triple-digit heat for golden sunsets, cozy textures, pumpkin-spiced everything, and the magic that only Fall in Florida can bring (yes, even if we have to pretend with fake leaves and hay bales).
And you know what that means...

10 Must-Ask Questions for Your Photographer Before You Book (Don't Skip #9)
So, you’re ready to book a photographer? Great! Here’s something I’ve noticed in my years of snapping pics: Some clients book with little to no questions asked, while others come armed with a list. The truth is, asking questions is amazing. It helps both of us get on the same page, builds trust, and makes sure we’re going to create something you’ll love! Don’t worry if you’re not sure what to ask; here are a few key questions to consider before saying “cheese!”
1 - Can I See More of Your Work?
Sure, a photographer’s website showcases some of their best shots, but if you’re looking for more examples—especially ones that match the type of session you’re after—just ask! We love showing off our work, and it’ll help you feel confident that we’re the right match.
2 - What is your cancellation policy?
When booking a photoshoot, it's essential to know your photographer’s cancellation policy to avoid any surprises if plans change. Life is unpredictable, and sometimes cancellations or rescheduling is unavoidable. Asking about the policy upfront gives clarity on deadlines, potential fees, and flexibility, helping you understand what options are available if something comes up. This transparency can make the booking process smoother and ensure you feel supported and secure in your investment, no matter what life throws your way.
3 - How soon will I receive my Photos?
As much as you might love the suspense, it’s nice to know how long it’ll take to get your photos. Whether you’re on a tight timeline or just want to know the estimated wait, asking about turnaround time is totally fair game. (We know the feeling of tracking an online order!) If you're in a time crunch, it’s wise to schedule your session at least a month before you need the final images. Most photographers have a 2-4 week turnaround time, depending on their workload and editing process. Booking with this buffer ensures you’ll have plenty of time for any additional edits or unexpected delays and can enjoy your photos by your target date without the stress of a last-minute rush.
4 - What happens if there’s bad weather?
This question is especially important if you live in a place with unpredictable weather—Florida being a prime example. Summer months often bring frequent rain and high humidity, so it’s essential to plan ahead. I personally schedule photoshoots at times when rain is less likely, but there have certainly been occasions where unexpected showers have interrupted a session. Each photographer’s approach may vary, but every professional should have a rainy day policy that allows for rescheduling when weather doesn’t cooperate.
5 - What is your approach to posing and direction?
This is an important question that can reveal a lot about how your session will feel. Some photographers take a hands-on approach, offering detailed instructions for every pose, angle, and expression, which can be helpful if you feel unsure in front of the camera or want a polished, magazine-style look. Others prefer a more candid approach, capturing natural interactions and encouraging you to relax and enjoy the moment, which is ideal if you want photos that feel authentic and organic.
Knowing the photographer’s style of guidance can help you assess if their approach aligns with your comfort level and the atmosphere you’re hoping for. If you’re new to professional photography or tend to feel camera-shy, you may want a photographer who is encouraging and offers clear, friendly direction. On the other hand, if you’re comfortable being photographed and want more freedom to move, a relaxed, observational photographer may be a better fit. Asking about this ensures you’ll feel supported during the session and come away with images that genuinely reflect who you are.
6 - Do You Have Creative Ideas for My Session?
You’ve seen a look you love in a photographer’s portfolio, and now you want that same vibe, right? Chat with your photographer about your vision, any location ideas, or themes you love. Feel free to share inspiration, even from outside their portfolio. Photographers love collaborating to bring your ideas to life!
7 - Can I Bring My Squad (aka Friends or Family) Along?
Thinking of bringing the family, a friend, or even your pet hamster? Let your photographer know. Adding extra people can change the session’s vibe and timing, and it may affect the price. More friends or family = more coordination, but trust me, we’re happy to make it work.
8 - Am I Allowed to Change Outfits?
Want a quick outfit change mid-shoot? Most photographers don’t mind, but it’s always good to check. (And if you’re outdoors, make sure there’s a place nearby where you can change comfortably.)
9 - What location would you recommend?
Location, location, location! If you’re not sure where you’d like your session to happen, ask for suggestions. Most photographers have a list of great spots in mind and know when they’re best lit. I personally love helping clients pick locations that’ll make their photos shine.
10 - Do you have experience with my specific type of shoot
It is essential to ensure your photographer is well-equipped to handle the unique needs of your session. Different types of photography require different skill sets, and having a photographer with experience in your specific area of interest can make a significant difference in the final outcome.
Of course, these are just a few starter questions; feel free to ask anything that’ll make you feel more prepared! The more you know, the more comfortable you’ll feel, and that goes for us photographers, too—happy clients make for the best photoshoots!
Don’t Miss Out! Here’s Why You Absolutely Need a Fall Photoshoot This Year
Hey there! 🍁 It’s me, Laura, your friendly neighborhood photographer, and I’m here to let you in on a little secret—fall is hands-down the BEST time of year for a photoshoot. Yes, even here in Central Florida! You might be thinking, “But wait, Florida doesn’t exactly do that whole ‘fall foliage’ thing.” And, you’re right, we don’t get those iconic changing leaves like up north, but hear me out—there’s so much more to fall than just leaves!
Let’s dive into why you absolutely need to book your fall session this season. Trust me, you’ll thank yourself later.
1. The Light Is Pure Magic
As a photographer, let me tell you, the lighting during the fall months is something out of a dream. That golden hour glow in the late afternoon? Perfection! It’s softer, more flattering, and it gives your skin that gorgeous, sun-kissed look (without the sweat of summer). You don’t need autumn leaves to get the vibe—just that golden light paired with Florida’s lush greenery, and we’re in business.
2. The Perfect Weather (Finally!)
Let’s be real: Florida summers are brutal! Who wants to be melting in the heat while trying to look cute? Fall gives us a break from the humidity and sweltering sun. By October, we’re finally seeing cooler mornings and evenings, making it the perfect time to get outside without worrying about shiny foreheads or frizzy hair. You’ll be comfortable, and your photos will look effortless.
3. A Wardrobe That Pops
Fall fashion is the BEST fashion! Whether you want to rock cozy sweaters (yes, you can totally wear a light sweater here without overheating), flowy dresses, or cute boots—this is the time. Neutral tones, rich jewel colors, and textured fabrics like knit or suede look amazing in photos. Plus, if you’re doing family photos, it’s so easy to coordinate everyone in these warm, cozy tones. Trust me, no more stressing over what to wear!
4. Holiday Cards & Gifts
Let’s talk about timing—your fall photoshoot is the perfect opportunity to get those beautiful images for your holiday cards or gifts. By booking in the fall, you’ll have plenty of time to choose your favorite shots, design your cards, and send them off to family and friends before the holiday rush. Plus, you can’t go wrong with gifting stunning family photos to grandparents! They’re always a hit.
5. The Central Florida Charm
Okay, I know I said we don’t get the traditional fall foliage, but Central Florida has its own unique fall charm. Think pumpkin patches, rustic farms, and tree-lined parks with just enough golden tones to give you those autumn vibes. Locations like Lake Louisa State Park, Mead Botanical Garden, and even some local orange groves provide that perfect fall feel with a Florida twist. And don’t even get me started on beach sessions with a fall wardrobe—it’s a total vibe!
6. Capturing Family Milestones
The fall season just feels special. Maybe it’s the cozy energy or the anticipation of the holidays, but this time of year is perfect for capturing meaningful moments. Whether it’s a maternity session (hello, baby bump!), family photos, or even a couples shoot, fall is ideal for freezing those little moments in time before the craziness of the holiday season kicks in.
7. You Deserve It!
Let’s face it, you’ve made it through another busy year! Whether it’s juggling work, kids, school schedules, or just life in general, you deserve to take a moment for yourself and your loved ones. A photoshoot is the perfect way to do something fun, celebrate the season, and get some gorgeous images that will last a lifetime.
