Why I’m Staying True to My Editing Style (And Why It Matters)
When I first picked up my camera and started this little photography dream of mine here in Kissimmee and Orlando, I fell hard for a particular editing style. It was dark, moody, vibrant, and a little cinematic. The kind of images that made you feel something deep in your chest. And to my surprise (and relief), clients loved it too.
For a while, everything felt exactly how it was supposed to.
The Season I Started to Lose Myself
But as time went on, I did what a lot of photographers do, I started to bend. Someone would ask for “lighter, brighter, more true-to-color”, and I’d say yes. Another would want “clean and airy”, and I’d tweak my style to match. At first, it felt harmless, like good customer service. But little by little, my work no longer felt like mine.
Before I knew it, I was looking at my galleries and wondering, “Is this even good enough?”
“Do I even love this anymore?”
“Is this what I’m supposed to be doing?”
I developed a good old case of imposter syndrome. I questioned my talent, my place in this industry, and whether people were really hiring me for my art or just for a quick set of trendy photos. And when your heart isn’t in your work, it shows.
Finding My Way Back
One day, I sat down and looked back through my very first galleries, the ones that made me excited to edit late into the night and post proudly the next day. The colors were bold. The shadows were deep. The skin tones were rich and warm. The whole thing felt honest and soulful. And in that moment, I made myself a promise: I’m going back to my roots, but with the skills and experience I’ve gained along the way.
Now, I edit exactly the way I love. It’s still moody, vibrant, warm, and nostalgic — but better. More refined. More intentional. And you know what? I’ve fallen in love with photography all over again. I enjoy editing again. I love my job again!
Why This Matters for You
If you’re searching for a photographer in Orlando or Kissimmee, I want you to know exactly what you’re getting when you hire me. I no longer change my editing style for every session, because that wasn’t fair to my clients or to myself. You deserve consistency, authenticity, and a photographer who’s confident in her work.
I want you to book me because you love the way my photos make you feel; The cozy warmth, the honest emotion, the timeless storytelling. Not because I’ll edit your images like someone else’s Pinterest board.
There are so many talented photographers in Central Florida who offer light and airy or true-to-color work, and I’m always happy to recommend them if that’s your vibe. But if you’re drawn to rich, emotional, storytelling images that feel like art — I’d be honored to capture your story.
Let’s Make Something Beautiful Together
If you’ve been considering a session and my style speaks to you, I’d love to connect. You can check out my latest work here, and if it makes your heart skip a beat, you know where to find me.
Here’s to staying true to what makes us feel alive.
