Why Your Couple Photos Deserve More Time on Your Wedding Day

Hi! I’m a wedding photographer based in Orlando, FL. Over the past eight years, I’ve had the absolute joy of capturing some of life’s most meaningful moments — the love, laughter, and excitement that fill a wedding day. These moments are the result of months (sometimes years) of dreaming and planning, and they go by in what feels like a heartbeat. One minute you’re getting ready, the next you’re dancing the night away as a newlywed.

And the best part? It all comes together because of teamwork. Every wedding is a beautiful collaboration between couples and their incredible team of vendors — from florists to planners to photographers. I’ve been lucky enough to work alongside some amazing wedding planners who keep everything running smoothly, help gather families for photos, and make sure the day flows with ease. They truly are lifesavers, and I’m so thankful for them!

After the wedding day, couples can’t wait to relive it all through their photos — the laughter, the quiet moments, the joy. When I deliver galleries, I always want my couples to feel the story of their day in every image: getting ready, the first look, the ceremony, the celebration, and of course, the people they love most.

Over the years, I’ve realized how important it is to find the right balance between family photos and those intimate couple portraits. Family photos are so meaningful — they show the people who love and support you — but the photos of just the two of you are what tell the heart of your love story. They’re the images that remind you how it all began.

So my little piece of advice for couples: make time for you two on your wedding day. Hug your family, dance with your friends, soak in every moment — but also slow down, breathe each other in, and spend as much time together as you can. Prioritize your couple portraits, especially if time is tight. Those photos will become some of your most treasured memories.

And for my amazing wedding planners — thank you for all that you do! Encouraging couples to carve out that extra time together, even just 15–25 minutes more, can make such a difference in their final gallery. It allows us to create a full, emotional story that truly reflects their connection.

There’s always time for more family photos during the reception, but those quiet, romantic portraits? They only happen once. Let’s help our couples find that perfect balance so their story — every laugh, every look, every little moment — shines through.
